“After a truly awful experience with another photographer for our engagement shoot, we knew Shirley would be different from the first moment we saw the photos on her site. Her ability to make every photo breathtaking, creative and skillful is unmatched. She answered our initial outreach even though it was after 9pm, and met with us the very next day. She was SO attentive and interested in how we met and who we are together that I had no doubt she'd do an amazing job - we hired her on the spot. We had her come to Maine for two days, and did a photoshoot in the morning the day before our wedding, and had her shoot our welcome party as well. From creating moments so powerful I repeatedly needed a moment to stop crying about our love to her incredible care and attention to detail on the day of, Shirley is one of the best photographers I've ever encountered. My now husband has a background in audio, photo and video, and knows what to look for, and he has been equally astounded seeing the shots and moments she's captured. It's a special thing to only meet someone for two days but instantly feel close to them, and comfortable enough to show who Eric and I are together in front of her camera. Her coaching, creative ideas and excitement over the shots she got in the moment make it clear she was born for this. Not only that, but she has her process DOWN. Her travel fees are included in her pricing, which from our research was unique but so well thought out. She met with us several times to make sure she knew the shots we cared about, the type of photos we loved and envisioned, and even had an intake form where we could tell her about our family dynamics, any one we really wanted captured, etc. I am forever grateful to her for giving me the gift of presence on the day of my wedding, because I had no doubt she was capturing every last precious detail more beautifully and thoughtfully than I could anticipate.
